Winner of the Sue Ridgewell Challenge at the QGBI Conference 2008. The theme for this challenge was "Ancient & Modern". The piece features Sydney Opera House superimposed on drawn, painted and stitched representations of well known ancient monuments and symbols.

The fabric used here was discharged, then overprinted, before the wallhanging was completed with appliquéd silk, stitch and sequins. Made for the Quilters’ Guild challenge competition, “ConNECted”, in 2003, it was juried into the catalogue that illustrated a selection of the submitted quilts.

A small wallhanging using scraps of fabric and net to create an impressionistic effect. I often teach this technique at workshops and have been very impressed with the results achieved by participants.

I have made several wallhangings using this “woven strip” technique. The version illustrated won several awards at the National Quilt Championships in 2002 including 1st place in the Art Quilt class. It also travelled to various venues in the USA in 2003.
